DIY Home Project: Outdoor Shower
Today were looking at adding a shower to the back yard, I guess you could put one in your front yard but that might get weird...anyways...this would work great next to a pool or hot-tub where you need to rinse off after a swim or even just as somewhere to cool off after working in the yard. My personal favorite use would be when the kids are filthy and you just don't feel good about letting them in the house! Check out how to do it HERE! And by the way its about a 3 out of 10 difficulty!

DIY Home Project: Planter Umbrella Stand
Today we are looking at making a planter umbrella stand. This will add beauty to those unsightly umbrella stands and will also hide its true function when not in use! By selecting a large planter pot at least 15 inches high you can add a layer of rock to stabilize the bottom, then a layer of concrete and then a lair of soil for planting. In the center of the three lairs is a section of PVC pipe that the umbrella slips into, by arranging the plants strategically you will not even notice the section of pipe when the umbrella is not in use. Check it out HERE!

DIY Home Project: Cold Frame
Today were looking at building a cold frame, for those that don't know what a cold frame is, its essentially a green house used during the colder months to continue growing when the weather and temperatures aren't ideal. This works great all year, during the spring you can house seedlings that you started in doors and during the winter months you can continue to grow due to the sun light heating the box which heats the soil inside. Check it out HERE!

Adding Value with Home Repairs
Selling your home? Don’t overlook some easy and relatively inexpensive fixes that can add real value to your home’s selling price. While major remodeling is costly and may not address the needs and tastes of prospective buyers, these repairs and maintenance suggestions have universal appeal and may help you sell more quickly—and for a better price.
INTERIOR
- Bathrooms and the kitchen should be given a deep cleaning. Consider hiring a cleaning company that offers “move in / move out” cleaning services to do the job.
- If kitchen cabinet exteriors are in bad shape, refacing may be an option. Far less expensive than new cabinetry, refacing can give old and worn cabinets new life and can visually update a kitchen.
- Consider replacing kitchen or bathroom counters with a neutral colored laminate surface if the current material is badly worn or stained. This gives everything a fresh look and prevents potential buyers from focusing on an eyesore.
- Fresh paint on the walls and ceilings will do wonders for all rooms in the home. Stick with neutral colors so that buyers aren’t distracted by colors that make a statement. They’ll be able to imagine themselves and their furniture in the space much more easily.
- If carpet is covering hardwood floors, consider having it removed to expose the hardwood flooring. Hardwood floors are desirable, so they should be shown off. If carpet is staying, it goes without saying that should be thoroughly cleaned.
- If the entire exterior needs painting, do it. Buyers notice if paint is faded and peeling. If the paint is in good shape overall, renew the doors and trim with a fresh coat.
- Clean the windows inside and out so they sparkle. It’s amazing what a difference this can make in a home’s appearance. Hiring a professional window cleaning company is the easiest and safest way to get the job done on a multi-story home.
- Clear clutter from the yard, keep the lawn mowed, and trim any overgrown shrubs that detract from the home’s appearance. Your home should look well maintained even at first glance.
- Plant some bright, colorful flowers along the entry path and doorway to add a welcoming touch.

DIY Home Project: Painted Dresser
One of the best and worst feelings is moving, one of the employees here at Qazzoo recently moved into a new house. He expressed great joy as the house is brand new and incredible. However there was a problem with some of the furniture, while it wasn't in bad shape, it just simply didn't fit the color scheme anymore. He decided that instead of purchasing new furniture he would simply paint it to make it the exact color he needed to match. And this method proved to be very cost effective and looks amazing!

DIY Home Project: Outlet Covers
How many times have you walked into a home and noticed the outlet covers are all different colors and styles as you progress through the house. Generally you can get away with this if the style matches the room and colors work the same way, but what do you do when you decide to change that room, do you spend possibly $100+ on new outlet covers? Generally most people forget all about them, but there is an easier and more cost effective solution then buying new ones, and thats painting the existing ones! Check out these!

DIY Home Project: Painted Concrete Floors
Today were looking at what to do with those boring concrete floors, this can be done anywhere, the garage, basement, or in older houses your regular cement floors. Our person picked up the stencils at the dollar store and simply swept the area, mopped and allowed to dry. She then taped a border and some straight guide lines across the floor to make sure the stencils stayed true. While this project is time consuming you cannot argue with the end result, its looks great and is a major fraction of the cost of alternatives.
